Amman : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met with His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
HM King Hamad congratulated HM King Abdullah II on the 25th anniversary of his assumption of constitutional powers, commending the remarkable development achievements and stability of Jordan under the leadership of HM King Abdullah II, and the unity and loyalty of the Jordanian people.
The two monarchs discussed means of enhancing cooperation and economic integration between the two kingdoms and reviewed current regional and international matters.
His Majesty the King expressed appreciation to HM King Abdullah II for his generous hospitality, praising Jordan’s active role in supporting Arab and Islamic matters, particularly the Palestinian cause.
HM King Abdullah praised the efforts of Bahrain in organising the upcoming Arab summit. The two leaders expressed their confidence in the summit’s success and emphasised the importance of holding Arab summits on a regular basis.
Their Majesties also discussed the political and security situation in the Middle East, emphasising the urgent need for the international community, particularly the Security Council, to implement resolutions regarding achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. The two parties underscored the importance of protecting civilians, ensuring the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and preventing further escalation of the crisis. They emphasised their rejection of any actions that lead to escalating war, ground attacks on Rafah, or the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
Their Majesties reiterated the importance of respecting the historical and legal status of Jerusalem, and to stop Israeli attacks on religious sites. They also condemned the building of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, which is a violation of international law.
The two monarchs called for coordinating Arab and international efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region, supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of the international legitimacy.
HM King Hamad underscored the importance of the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
His Majesty hailed the ongoing diplomatic efforts made by Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, in supporting the Palestinian cause and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, in addition to humanitarian programmes to support the Palestinian people.
HM the King also praised the collaborative efforts between Jordan and the Bahraini Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) in providing aid to Palestinian and Syrian refugees.
Both sides stressed the importance of reducing tensions in the Middle East and avoiding military escalation. Their Majesties affirmed the importance of bolstering Arab and international cooperation to find just, comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solutions to conflicts in the region, and coordinating efforts to combat terrorism and block its financing.
The two monarchs affirmed their commitment to continuous coordination and consultation to serve the interests of their countries and peoples, enhancing solidarity and supporting joint Arab action in confronting foreign interference and security threats.
They also stressed the importance of effective Arab and international partnerships in promoting security, peace, coexistence and regional cooperation to support sustainable development goals and ensure prosperity for all.
Following that, HM King Hamad departed Jordan. His Majesty was bid farewell by His Majesty the King of Jordan, His Highness the Crown Prince of Jordan and a number of senior officials.
His Majesty King Hamad sent a cable to His Majesty the King of Jordan thanking him for the warm hospitality that reflected the solid historical ties between the two countries.
His Majesty touched on the outcome of the talks with HM King Abdullah II on consolidating cooperation, the upcoming Arab Summit to be hosted in Bahrain and regional developments.
HM the King valued the ongoing efforts of HM King Abdullah II to achieve peace in the region and support the delivery of aid to Gaza, in line with His Majesty’s steadfast position on defending the interests of the Arab nation and strengthening joint Arab action.
His Majesty concluded by wishing HM the King of Jordan continued success, and further development stability for Jordan and its people.
