His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Personal Representative; His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs; Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Royal Court Minister; General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior; and Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs.
HM King Hamad directed HH Shaikh Abdullah to set up measures for the development and protection of marine resources and to continue fish farming to meet the local market’s needs. This is in addition to formulating procedures to protect marine resources, which are considered one of the essential resources for citizens.
HM King Hamad praised the efforts of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), in cooperation with various ministries and government entities for the development of marine resources through a series of plans and programmes.
He emphasised Bahrain’s interest in improving food security by developing marine resources, assuring sustainability, and protecting its resources.
His Majesty underscored Bahrain’s focus on the development and sustainability of marine resources, considering them a national asset and one of main elements of enhancing food security in the kingdom.
HH Shaikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation for HM the King’s continuous support of the SCE
He also commended the Ministry of Interior’s efforts, particularly the Coast Guard, in protecting marine resources and enforcing legal measures against violations.
