Manama : Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the Gulf Men’s Basketball Championship was inaugurated.
The championship, hosted by Bahrain, will be held during the period September 2-7 at the Bahrain Basketball Association Arena.
The inauguration was attended by HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of BOC, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, Faris Al Kooheji, BOC Secretary-General, Captain Waleed Al Alawi, President of the Bahrain Basketball Association, Mohammed Al Ajmi, Advisor to the President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Organising Committee for the Championship, along with representatives from Gulf basketball federations and other guests.
HH Shaikh Khalid expressed his pride in Bahrain’s role as host, which underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering Gulf unity through sports.
He highlighted the championship’s role in advancing Gulf basketball and in preparing teams for regional and international competitions. HH praised the long-standing tradition of the championship in developing talent across the region and commended the efforts of the Bahrain Basketball Association and the organising committee in ensuring the event’s success.
HH Shaikh Khalid also wished Bahrain’s national team and all participating Gulf teams success in the championship.
