Manama : His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, has stressed the importance of the honourable representation of the kingdom at the upcoming 2023 AFC Asian Cup, set to be held in Doha, Qatar, between January 12 and February 10.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad was speaking while visiting the National Football Team during their last training session, ahead of their departure for the UEA where they will hold the final training camp in preparation for the Asian Cup 2023.
His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, GSA Deputy Chairman, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Cabinet Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary and BOC Vice-President, Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa, Bahrain Football Association (BFA) President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, BFA Vice-President, Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, GSA’s CEO, Fares Mustafa Al Kooheji, BOC Secretary-General, Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal, Bahrain Athletics Association President and National Teams Committee member, were present.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, to the players, affirming the full support of the GSA and BOC for the National Football Team, and commitment to providing all its needs.
His Highness urged the players to do their utmost and perform well during the 2023 Asian Cup, in a way that reflects the remarkable progress witnessed by sports in Bahrain, thanks to HH Shaikh Nasser’s vision and interest in developing Bahraini football, wishing the team success in winning their opening match during the tournament.

HH Shaikh Khalid stressed that the National Football Team players should be the best ambassadors of the nation during the Asian Nations Cup, through consolidating sports principles and values, as well as showing good sportsmanship to represent the kingdom well.
