Manama : His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, met with former British professional boxer Amir Khan.
HH Shaikh Khalid emphasised Bahrain’s strong commitment to martial arts, particularly boxing, and plans to further enhance its boxing players’ skills for future competitions.
HH Shaikh Khalid praised Amir Khan’s numerous world championships and Olympic achievements, highlighting his impressive sports career as a role model for promising athletes.
The Bahrain Olympic Committee and Bahrain Combat Sports Council are working to advance boxing to represent the kingdom, he said.
The experience of international boxer Amir Khan will be utilised to develop team players’ capabilities and discover new talents who can contribute to Bahraini boxing’s successes, he added.
