Muscat : Hamad Mohamed, a National karate team player, secured a silver medal at the 10th Shotokan International Open Karate Championship, held in Oman.
The championship was organized by the Oman Karate Committee and featured over 400 participants from nine countries.
Hamad Mohamed delivered an outstanding performance in the individual kumite competition for the over-84kg weight category, reaching the final match after excelling in both the preliminary and knockout stages. Despite narrowly losing in the final, his impressive showing earned him the silver medal.
The player expressed appreciation to Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, for his continuous support of the federations under the council’s umbrella, including the Karate Federation and all its members.
Hamad Mohamed also commended the efforts of the coaching staff, who supported him throughout the championship. He said that achieving second place would motivate him to strive for greater success in upcoming tournaments.
