Manama : Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, lauded the participation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the 44th Session of the GCC Supreme Council held in Doha, Qatar, which reflected the keenness of His Majesty on contributing to the consolidation of joint GCC action.
The minister valued the outcomes of the Doha Summit, which affirmed the determination of the GCC leaders on continuing action to consolidate unity in economic, defence and security disciples, and to maintain the integration of the GCC and the role of its states in upholding regional and international peace and security.
The minister highlighted the firm GCC stance on supporting Arab and Islamic causes, mainly the Palestinian issue; through continuing efforts to reach a ceasefire, end the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, provide humanitarian and relief aid for the residents of Gaza, and to support the right of the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Dr. Al Zayani commended the final communiqué for condemning the heinous Houthi terrorist attack that targeted the Bahraini taskforce participating in operations Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope, killing Bahrain Defence Force servicemen and injuring others. The final communiqué expressed its full support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain and reiterated the backing of the council for a sustainable political solution to safeguard the sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence of the Yemen.
The Foreign Minister took pride in the commendation included in the final communiqué and the Doha Declaration of Bahrain’s successful hosting of the 146th IPU Assembly and related meeting in March 2023 under the theme “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Inclusive Societies: Fighting intolerance”, which was part of the initiatives led by the kingdom and the GCC in addressing political, security and economic challenges and their effective contribution to maintaining regional and international peace and security.
