Doha : Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, led Bahrain’s delegation at the 122nd GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee Meeting in Qatar.
The GCC finance ministers and GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi have participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed key topics aimed at boosting financial and economic cooperation among GCC countries, including recommendations from the GCC Central Bank Governors Committee, the outcomes of the GCC Customs Union Authority meetings, and the findings of the GCC Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax Departments, and Gulf Common Market Committee.
The ministers were also updated on the latest developments in free trade agreement negotiations between the GCC and other nations and economic blocs, as well as progress on achieving economic integration within the GCC.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa and the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) also attended a joint meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director. The discussions focused on regional and global economic developments and efforts to address the challenges facing GCC financial and economic policies in 2024, with a focus on innovative solutions for comprehensive and sustainable economic growth.
