Washington : Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister, delivered a statement to the World Bank’s Development Committee on behalf of the Arab Group and the Maldives, which Bahrain represents, at the Committee’s 110th meeting.
The meeting was held as part of the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C.
Shaikh Salman emphasised the importance of unifying international efforts and building on achievements in global cooperation to support progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He underscored the World Bank’s role in launching initiatives that foster prosperity for all nations and peoples.
The Minister stressed the need for innovative financing solutions aligned with economic growth requirements, as well as promoting private sector investment by creating a conducive environment for growth.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa noted the World Bank’s recent additional financial support for the Gaza and West Bank Trust Fund, stressing the importance of ongoing assistance to the Palestinian Authority to address urgent needs. He also called for similar support for Lebanon given its current challenges, reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to supporting regional and international efforts that promote peace, reduce tensions, and foster development and prosperity.
