Kuwait : The 51st General Assembly conference of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) concluded with recommendations aimed at enhancing cooperation and improving operational mechanisms.
Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, President of FANA and Acting Director General of Emirates News Agency (WAM), chaired the conference hosted by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The conference reviewed several proposals submitted by KUNA, including the preparation of a bulletin on child education and the participation of news agencies in KUNA’s magazine on specific occasions.
It was agreed that the 52nd FANA General Assembly session would be hosted by Kuwait in the final quarter of 2025.
The FANA General Assembly was briefed on the outcomes of creating news reports focused on economic media, emphasising their importance in developing the capabilities of Arab news agency personnel, with recommendations to hold new workshops.
The assembly approved the initiation of an environmental bulletin by the FANA Secretariat from 2025, modelled after current bulletins and in line with established standards and conditions.
Decisions and recommendations also include organising a session on marketing, international relations, and public relations to discuss ways to strengthen ties among Arab news agencies and to bridge the gap between them and the federation as their main umbrella organisation.
The assembly reviewed a report regarding the development of a specialised session by the FANA General Assembly to enhance media professionals’ skills in sustainable development, in alignment with the directives of the Council of Arab Media Ministers.
The conference called on the FANA Secretariat to reissue messages concerning the organisation of a pilot session on the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development 2023, scheduled for 2025.
