Manama : The Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), in association with the United States Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, hosted a Think Talk titled “Unlocking the Value of Electricity Diplomacy”, May 27 at Derasat’s headquarters in Awali.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Lawrence E. Jones, the Senior Vice President for International Programmes at Edison Electric Institute (EEI) in the United States. Dr. Jones, an award-winning author and seasoned practitioner with over 25 years of experience in the energy industry, provided insightful perspectives on the mutual benefits of electricity diplomacy and its potential for bilateral and multilateral engagement to enhance energy security.
The event aimed to underscore how electricity diplomacy, by fostering collaboration and mutual understanding among nations, can help mitigate the impacts of geopolitical challenges, ensure the stability and resilience of energy systems and promote sustainable development. Additionally, Dr. Jones illustrated how lessons learned from diverse global contexts can inform better stakeholders, ultimately driving the transition towards a more interconnected world that benefits all globally.
