Beijing : China’s National Meteorological Centre has renewed a yellow alert for a cold wave, forecasting a significant drop in temperatures across most of the country in the coming days.
The centre reported that temperatures in central and eastern China, as well as the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, are expected to fall by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius from Saturday to Tuesday. Residents have been urged to take precautions to stay warm and protect crops and aquatic products.
A yellow alert for heavy fog was also issued, with visibility expected to drop to less than one kilometre in parts of the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, and the East China Sea. In some coastal areas of northern and eastern China, visibility may fall below 500 metres.
Motorists have been advised to drive cautiously and maintain safe speeds, while airports, highways, and ports have been urged to implement necessary safety measures.
China follows a four-tier weather warning system, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow, and blue alerts.
