Washington : The United States authorities issued mass evacuation orders in North and South Carolina following the outbreak of more than 175 wildfires amid stormy and dry conditions complicating firefighting efforts.
Henry McMaster, Governor of South Carolina, declared a state of emergency to ensure the necessary resources are available to support firefighting and emergency teams across the state.
Authorities reported that the massive fires that broke out last night have spread across 4,200 acres, affecting several counties, including Horry, Spartanburg, Oconee, Union, and Pickens. Around 30% of the fires have been contained, while flames have consumed more than 1,600 acres so far.
