Manama : The Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) will launch the HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad MMA Open Championship 2025 on Thursday, February 27, at Khalifa Sports City.
The championship will feature teams from clubs, centres, and academies specialising in MMA, along with participants from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The official weigh-in for all participants will take place on Thursday, February 27, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am at Khalifa Sports City, with the competitions set to begin at 5:00 pm.
Mohammed Ali Qambar, President of the BMMAF thanked His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), for his continued support of MMA. He highlighted HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad’s role in advancing the sport, enhancing athletes’ performance, and enabling Bahrain to achieve milestones and global recognition in MMA.
Qambar emphasised that the BMMAF is committed to hosting local championships as part of its efforts to implement the strategic plans set by the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA.
These efforts aim to further develop combat sports, particularly MMA, and drive continued success. Qambar highlighted that the championship serves as a platform to identify exceptional talent, supporting the formation of national teams for future competitions.
