Manama : Under the presidency of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Manama will host the 16th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) on January 24-28, reflecting the Kingdom’s advanced standing in regional and international parliamentary engagement and its role in promoting parliamentary dialogue and cooperation among Asian states.
The session is being organised in line with the directives of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and President of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain, with direct follow-up by the General Secretariats of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, as part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to advance parliamentary diplomacy.
Held under the theme “The Role of Asian Parliaments in Promoting Dialogue among Civilisations and Cultures in Asia: Opportunities, Challenges and Future Pathways,” the programme includes plenary sittings, meetings of the Executive Council and standing committees, and bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening coordination, exchanging legislative expertise, and enhancing institutional cooperation.
The session will also highlight Bahrain’s parliamentary experience and the progress achieved in legislative and institutional development, as well as its role in promoting dialogue, coexistence, and parliamentary integration in support of stability and development in Asia.
Bahrain’s election to the presidency of the APA was announced during the 15th Plenary Session held last February in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.
