Riyadh : The Kingdom of Bahrain achieved its highest ever result at the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, surpassing its previous record for both gold medals and total medals. Bahrain’s tally reached 30 medals, including 15 gold, with one day remaining in the competition. This exceeds the 23 medals, including nine gold, won at the 2022 edition in Konya.
The results reflect the continued development of Bahraini sport, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the efforts of the Bahrain Olympic Committee under His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).
On the penultimate day, Bahrain secured seven additional medals across athletics and fencing.

In athletics, Edidiong Odiong won gold in the women’s 200m, with Salwa Eid Naser taking silver. Nelly Korir won gold in the women’s 1500m, and Berhanu Balew earned silver in the men’s 5000m. The Kingdom also won silver in the mixed 4×400m relay, while Noora Jassim won bronze in shot put.
These results placed Bahrain at the top of the athletics medal table with 17 medals, including 10 gold.
In fencing, the women’s foil team won silver after a competitive final against Oman. The team comprised Sumaya Al Buainain, Retaj Haitham, and Maryam Khan.

Bahrain will conclude its participation tomorrow and remains in contention for further medals. The national handball team will play the final against Saudi Arabia following victories over Kuwait, Iraq, and Qatar, with one group-stage loss to Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain will also compete in jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and women’s para powerlifting. Amal Ali will compete in the lightweight para powerlifting event, while wrestlers Magomedrasul Asluev (74kg), Khidir Saipudinov (86kg), Ahmed Taj Al Deen (97kg), and Shamil Sharipov (125kg) will enter the elimination rounds.
The delegation aims to conclude its participation strongly, with wide public interest and expectations for additional podium finishes.
