Manama : As part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum held in the Russian Federation, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Customs, and Tatiana Merkushova. Deputy Head of Federal Customs Service of Russia. signed an agreement on mutual administrative cooperation in customs matters between the two governments.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad highlighted the significance of the agreement as a strategic move to enhance and modernise customs operations. He noted that it aligns with Bahrain Customs’ 2024–2027 strategic plan and reflects broader international efforts to strengthen cross-border partnerships.
The agreement is designed to deepen cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Russia’s customs authorities through the exchange of information and technical expertise. It aims to facilitate trade, streamline customs procedures, and bolster border security and anti-smuggling measures, particularly in light of the growing pressures on global supply chains.
This step supports the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance international relations and improve the business and investment environment through knowledge-sharing and more efficient customs operations.
