Addis Ababa : As part of Bahrain’s presidency of the Arab League Council at the Summit Level in its 33rd session, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Turaifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated remotely in the second meeting of the technical working group under the advisory team.
The meeting, held at the UN Economic Commission for Africa headquarters in Addis Ababa, brought together representatives from countries and international organisations concerned with Sudan.
Al Turaifi reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives aligned with the Jeddah Declaration to protect civilians, resolve the conflict, and ensure unhindered humanitarian aid in accordance with international law. He highlighted Bahrain’s position as outlined in the Bahrain Declaration issued at the Arab Summit.
He also called on the international community to support Sudan and assist humanitarian organisations while stressing the importance of economic and infrastructure initiatives for reconstruction and stability.
The technical working group stems from the third consultative meeting on coordinating peace efforts in Sudan, held in Nouakchott on December 18, 2024.
