Manama : The Bahrain National Theatre hosted the “Laylat Fan Al-Sout” (The Art of Sound Night) concert on Thursday evening, attended by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), alongside diplomats, officials, and a large audience of traditional music enthusiasts.
The event reflects BACA’s commitment to preserving and promoting the art of sound, a key component of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s intangible cultural heritage.
The performance featured renowned Bahraini artist Ahmed Al Jumairi, along with Mohammed Al Tamimi and Abdulrahman Awadh, accompanied by the Bahrain Music Band under the direction of Maestro Ziad Zaiman.
Attendees enjoyed a musical journey through classic Bahraini Sout compositions, showcasing the legacy of genre pioneers including Mohammed bin Fares, Dhahi bin Waleed, and Mohammed Zuwaid.
Fan Al Sout is considered a cornerstone of classical Arab singing and a hallmark of Gulf folk music, particularly in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Originating in Muharraq, the genre continues to uphold its authenticity and distinct artistic style, remaining a refined and respected tradition in Bahrain’s cultural landscape.
