Tokyo : Bahrain’s national football team lost 2-0 to Japan in the seventh round of the AFC 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Japan secured qualification for the World Cup for the eighth consecutive time with goals from Daichi Kamada (66’) and Takefusa Kubo (87’), marking their sixth victory in Group C.
Despite the result, Bahrain remains in contention for a place in the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The team will play Indonesia in Jakarta on Tuesday in a key eighth-round match.
