Washington : Within the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States, chaired a meeting of the ambassadors of the GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with Representative Brian Mast, Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The meeting was also in the presence of a number of members of Congress, including Representative Gregory Meeks, Ranking Member of the Committee, Representative Mike Lawler, Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Middle East, Representative Brad Sherman, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee, as well as Representative Joe Wilson and Representative Seth Moulton, members of the House Armed Services Committee.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the region in light of the recent Iranian attacks targeting GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The meeting affirmed that the security of the GCC countries is an indivisible and interconnected system, based on the Council’s charter and its joint defence frameworks.
The participants highlighted the existing cooperation between the GCC countries and the United States, noting the importance of continuing coordination and joint action to address current challenges in a manner that enhances regional security and stability, ensures the safety of maritime navigation, maintains the flow of international trade, and supports the stability of global energy markets.
They also underscored the importance of continued coordination with the United States and international partners to address security challenges, strengthen the protection of vital facilities, and support regional and international stability.
