Manama : The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) inaugurated the “From Hand to Hand – 100-Years-New Craft” exhibition at the Bahrain National Museum as part of the 19th Spring of Culture Festival. The event was attended by Japanese Ambassador to Bahrain, Okai Asako, alongside senior BACA officials, dignitaries, and cultural figures.
Organised in collaboration with Chawan Authentic Japanese Tea House, Budoor Steele, and Hanai Suzuki, the exhibition is supported by the Embassy of Japan in Bahrain and several corporate sponsors. It showcases the craftsmanship of five Shokunin (Japanese master artisans), highlighting the evolution of Japanese handicrafts and their balance between tradition and modernity.
The exhibition is structured into five sections, each exploring different aspects of Japanese craftsmanship, from ceramics and metal weaving to tea canisters, wooden tubs, and pottery. It highlights the adaptation of traditional techniques to contemporary design and functionality.
Running until March 28, 2025, the exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Bahrain National Museum and welcomes visitors of all ages.
