Firefighters rushed on Friday to battle a fire at a dump site for used tyres in Al Salmi area near Kuwait’s Al Jahra governorate. Five firefighting squads were taking part in putting out the blaze at the site, which covers 3,000 square metres, the Kuwait Fire Force said in a statement. The department said that more details would be announced later. In 2021, Kuwait’s government removed all of the tyres from a dump near Mutlaa to Al Salmi, near the Saudi border, where recycling efforts had begun.
