Abu Dhabi : The International Astronomical Centre in Abu Dhabi has announced the discovery of a new asteroid within the asteroid belt of our solar system by one of its team members. Khalfan bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, President of the Centre, revealed that the discovery was made through the analysis of images provided by a NASA-supported programme in collaboration with international partners, including Hardin-Simmons University in Texas, the Pan-STARRS telescope and the Catalina Sky Survey project. Lisbon : Hundreds of Portuguese firefighters on Sunday scrambled to put out a wildfire sweeping parts of the Atlantic island of Madeira’s south coast, a popular tourist destination, with strong winds complicating efforts to tackle the blaze. The wildfire, which started on Wednesday in a remote rural area of Ribeira Brava has spread to the neighbouring municipality of Camara de Lobos, and now has three fronts, island authorities said. Aqaba : The Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) has entered into a $125 million agreement with a coalition of international firms to enhance and modernize the Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in Aqaba. The agreement, signed by Hussein Safadi, ADC CEO, and representatives of the Contractors Consortium, marks a significant step in bolstering Jordan’s energy infrastructure. Muscat : Bahrain’s national bodybuilding team achieved remarkable success at the 5th West Asian Bodybuilding Championship, held in Oman, on August 15 -17. Mohammed Boukhlaf won the gold medal in the Classic Physique category, earning the title of Champion of Champions, and securing an international professional card. Abdullah Al Mansour took second place in the Classic Physique 173 cm category, while Ali Ibrahim Kuwayed took the bronze medal in the Junior Bodybuilding category.
