A new NASA out-of-this-world animation allows humanity to experience their closest galactic neighbor as never before through an online “CGI Moon kit.” Smartphones have allowed millions to become amateur photographers, but capturing the perfect picture can still be difficult under certain conditions. So, imagine trying to capture an image of a 3D object while simultaneously moving at almost a mile per second. The light source over 93 million miles away and the entire surface must also be accurately mapped topographically down to a level of 100 feet. These are the challenging conditions NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has overcome for…

It’s become a solemn and sacred ritual in the United States each September 11 — pausing for part of the day to remember the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks. While the attacks happened at the Twin Towers in lower Manhattan, the Pentagon across the Potomac River from Washington and a lonely field outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the entire nation — and indeed the world — absorbed the horror of airliners being turned into weapons. Demonstrating the enduring legacy of that day in 2001, here are some of the places holding observances around the United States on the 18th anniversary of 9/11: National September…
Democrats running for president have said they would support extending government health care coverage to undocumented immigrants – a big shift since undocumented immigrants currently have little access to federal programs. Even many green card holders typically have to wait five years before they can enroll in Medicaid — and President Donald Trump has changed immigration policy that could discourage even eligible immigrants from signing up. What that means, today is that many undocumented immigrants rely on emergency rooms…
