Manama : The Ministry of Interior announced that the Anti-Cyber Crimes Directorate of the General Directorate for Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security has taken legal action against nine social media accounts found to be in violation of the law. The action followed the monitoring of content aimed at provoking division and hatred among citizens in a manner that threatens civil peace.
The Directorate said that reposting such content or supporting it through approving comments can also subject individuals to legal accountability. It underscored the importance of responsible use of social media, raising public awareness, and safeguarding the community from the risks associated with misuse, in line with the law and the values and traditions of Bahraini society.
