Manama : As part of Diabetes Awareness Month, Al Hilal Healthcare Group organized the highly successful 4th season of the Defeat Diabetes Cyclothon In collaboration with the Bahrain Cycling Association, and supported by Nasser S. Al –Hajri Corporation (NSH), Pocari Sweat, and Manama Packaging Industry WLL. on December 6, 2024, at Bilaj Al Jazayer, Zallaq.
A key highlight of this year’s event was the esteemed presence of His Excellency Shaikh Khalid
bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Cycling Association, who graced the
occasion as the chief guest. His participation added a special significance to the event. His
Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad officially flagged off the cyclothon, marking the start of
the ride, followed by the management team of Al Hilal Healthcare Group.

The event was designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and educate the public on the significance of diabetes awareness. Over 800 cyclists participated in the ride, which marked the conclusion of the 4th season of this impactful event. The ride began at 8:00 AM and covered a distance of 10 kilometers in just 2 hours.

The event aimed to raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of early detection and management. This year’s cyclothon saw record participation, making it the most successful edition to date.

In his remarks, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed his
gratitude to Al Hilal Healthcare Group for its continued efforts to raise awareness about health
and wellness. He commended the group’s dedication to promoting a healthier lifestyle and
wished them continued success in their future initiatives. He also mentioned that: “This is one of the largest cyclothon events where so many cycling enthusiasts are together at
one place and I congratulate Al Hilal healthcare group on this tremendous efforts. “I am truly
delighted to see such a large turnout at this event. It’s wonderful to witness the growing
number of participants each year. “

Through this initiative, we aim to send a powerful message about the importance of prioritizing physical activity for better health. The diverse range of participants—children, adults, elderly, men, and women—demonstrates the inclusivity of this important cause. We hope that next year’s event will be even bigger and more impactful.”

Dr. Sharath Chandran also expressed his appreciation to His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin
Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa for his presence and support, as well as to the Bahrain Cycling
Association, Nasser S. Al Hajri Corporation, Manama Packaging Industry WLL, Pocari Sweat,
and Plus FM 89.2 for their valuable contributions. He emphasized Al Hilal Healthcare’s
commitment to improving the event each year, ensuring it reaches a larger audience and
continues to educate more people about the importance of diabetes prevention and management.

Also in prominent attendees were Sayyed Shabbar – Secretary of Bahrain Cycling Association,
Adel Marhoon, Cycling Coach of Bahrain Cycling Association, Arjun Burhman- Finance
Manager of Nasser S. Al Hajri Corporation, Mr. Ammad Aslam- Director of Manama Packaging
Industry WLL, Mr. Asif Mohammed, Vice-President Business and Strategy – Al Hilal Healthcare, CA Sahal Jamaludheen -Finance Manager – Al Hilal Healthcare Group and other esteemed members of the Al Hilal Healthcare team.

As part of appreciation appreciation for the participants, each cyclist received a free event T-shirt, a Certificate of Participation, a comprehensive health check-up voucher valued at 100 BD, Al Hilal mugs, snacks, and exclusive health discount coupons. The event organizers were thrilled by the overwhelming support from the local cycling communities and participants who joined in this
