Kuala Lumpur : Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and First Vice President of FIFA, expressed confidence in the ability of Asian clubs to deliver a strong performance at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off today (Saturday) in the United States.
On behalf of the Asian football community, Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim extended his best wishes to Al Ain (UAE), Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia), Ulsan HD (Republic of Korea), and Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan), as well as the Asian referees participating in the expanded edition of the tournament.
He noted that Asian clubs have consistently demonstrated their competitiveness on the international stage and expressed confidence in their ability to continue embodying the AFC’s vision of global success.
Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim also highlighted the added value of the expanded tournament, describing it as a reflection of the global football community’s aspirations, including those of the AFC and its members, to stage a world class club competition that showcases the growing enthusiasm for continental football. He extended his sincere wishes for the organising committees to present the event in the best possible manner.
