Tokyo : Shigeru Ishiba, former Secretary-General of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has announced his candidacy for the party’s leadership election. The official campaign will begin on September 12, with the election scheduled for September 27 to select a successor to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
