The National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19) held a press conference to highlight updates on efforts made to contain COVID-19, and new measures to ensure the prevention of its spread.
“Bahrain has a unique experience when combating the coronavirus as we have a strong health system in place. We have invested in laboratories, where Bahrain tops for conducting more than 2,000 tests daily. It is a significant number when compared to other countries across the globe” said Lt. Col. Dr. Manaf Al Qahtani-Member of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19).
“The increase and the capacity of service in the health sector is one I want to highlight. Up to now we still have the capacity for quarantine, treatment, and isolation and over the six weeks we did not face ay shortage and it is indeed a positive result and one which we are proud of. Thirdly, providing the precautionary items and equipment for the healthcare team be it masks, gloves, and medication. Therefore, the continuity of the health services in normal life is a positive note. We have thus far not seen any shortages in the health centers and hospitals” he added.
A mechanism has been set in place to maintain the health of the professionals in the health sector. Bahrain is among the top Arab countries that participated in the trial of the medication and are still coordinating with the WHO for identifying the best medication to tackle the novel virus.
