Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, who is visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain to attend the Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Russia.
Minister Lavrov extended the greetings of His Excellency Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, to His Majesty the King, along with his best wishes for Bahrain and its people to achieve further progress and prosperity under His Majesty’s leadership. His Majesty also extended greetings and best wishes to HE President Putin and the Russian people for continued progress and prosperity.
His Majesty the King reviewed bilateral relations and opportunities to strengthen cooperation in various key domains. His Majesty affirmed the strong ties and friendship between the Kingdom and Russia, and their mutual commitment to further strengthening these relations and expanding cooperation in all areas to fulfil the aspirations of both countries and their peoples.
His Majesty the King expressed appreciation for HE the Russian President’s important role in strengthening relations between both countries, which are built on mutual respect and coordination. His Majesty also commended Russia’s stance and the solidarity expressed by HE President Putin towards Bahrain following the recent Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom. His Majesty also highlighted Russia’s role on the international stage and its commitment to promoting global security and peace.
His Majesty the King wished the Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and Russia success in strengthening cooperation for the benefit of both sides.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on key regional and international issues and developments, and efforts to enhance security, stability and peace in the region for the benefit of its countries and peoples.
The meeting emphasised the importance of continued coordination to strengthen regional security and stability and protect the security of waterways and trade routes.
For his part, Minister Lavrov expressed appreciation to His Majesty the King for His Majesty’s continued efforts and commitment to supporting and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
