Manama : Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the National Committee for Older Persons, His Excellency Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, affirmed Bahrain’s continued commitment to enhancing the care and support provided to older persons and improving their quality of life and active participation in society.
On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, observed on October 1, the minister highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to develop legislation, policies and programmes that support older persons’ independence, social integration and access to necessary care and services, while benefiting from their experience and contributions to society.
He noted that the Ministry of Social Development continues to strengthen partnerships with government entities, civil society organisations and the private sector to develop day-care services, programmes and initiatives that meet the needs of older persons and support their psychological and social wellbeing.
The minister also highlighted the National Committee for Older Persons’ efforts to enhance coordination among relevant stakeholders and reinforce social responsibility and national partnership in supporting older persons, affirming the Ministry’s commitment to further developing the social care system and ensuring their safe, stable and active participation in society.
