Nagoya : Bahrain won two gold medals on the opening day of the athletics competitions at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Winfred Yavi won gold in the women’s 10,000 metres, while Bahrain secured its second gold medal in the mixed 4×400 metre relay.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and Head of Bahrain’s delegation to the Asian Games, attended the competitions and commended the performances of the Kingdom’s athletes and their determination and competitive spirit.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali also commended the efforts of the Bahrain Athletics Association, the technical and administrative teams, and the athletes, and expressed hope for further achievements and medals during the upcoming competitions.
