Abu Dhabi : The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) of the Ministry of Interior signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Air Ports Affairs Sector of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the implementation of the “One Stop” pre-clearance project for air travellers.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Bahrain by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dossary, Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up, and on behalf of the UAE by Dr. Hamad Saif Al Mashghouni, Executive Director of the Air Ports Affairs Sector at the Federal Authority.
The MoU establishes an institutional framework for cooperation in implementing the project and facilitating the exchange of passengers’ pre-clearance data in accordance with the highest standards of information security and data protection. It also supports the integration of electronic systems, enhances the efficiency of operational procedures, and improves the quality of services provided to travellers.
Both sides affirmed that the agreement reflects the close cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates and contributes to strengthening joint GCC action, developing border management systems, enhancing security, and facilitating the movement of travellers.
The MoU was signed in Abu Dhabi in implementation of the decision adopted by the GCC Ministers of Interior, during their 42nd meeting, to launch the “One Stop” initiative as part of efforts to strengthen Gulf integration and develop travel and mobility systems in line with technological advancements while enhancing the efficiency of security services.
The Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates officially launched the “One Stop” project on February 16, through Bahrain International Airport and Zayed International Airport. The initiative enables travellers to complete entry procedures for their destination country before departure, reducing processing times upon arrival and facilitating smoother passenger movement.
