Paris : The French Football Federation (FFF) officially announced on Tuesday the appointment of Zinedine Zidane, the 1998 World Cup winner and French football legend, as head coach of the French national team, succeeding Didier Deschamps following an illustrious 14-year tenure.
The appointment of former Real Madrid manager Zidane comes two weeks after Deschamps’ tenure as coach ended, following France’s fourth-place finish at the 2026 World Cup after losing 6-4 to England in the third-place play-off.
Zidane’s appointment as head coach on a four-year contract through 2030 fulfills a long-held ambition for the French football legend, who has long aspired to coach the national team.
