Manama : Her Excellency Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to the UN’s 2030 Agenda and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Through agile and integrated policies, strengthened strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors, sustained investment in human capital, and the development of infrastructure, the Kingdom is accelerating progress toward achieving the SDGs, while also keeping pace with global developments and charting a long-term vision of sustainable growth and prosperity through its upcoming Vision 2050.
The Main Messages shed light on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s response to the unprovoked and hostile Iranian missile and drone attacks launched against the Kingdom- an act that constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter, resulting in loss of life, injuries, and significant damage to civilian and critical infrastructure. They emphasize that protecting lives and national assets remains the Kingdom’s highest priority, ensuring that no one is left behind. The Messages also affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to preserve and sustain its national development achievements despite these challenges.
It further highlighted the significant progress achieved since presenting the Kingdom’s second VNR in 2023 across priority sectors by emphasizing the strong national focus on harnessing advanced technologies and innovative solutions; including in healthcare, positioning Bahrain as a global leader in precision medicine and genomic science.
The statement also underscored Bahrain’s commitment to future-proofing its economy by investing in human capital development and education through modernized curricula, expanded creative and digital learning pathways, and specialized training programmes in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence – aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of national talent and preparing it to navigate a fast-moving world.
Furthermore, the Main Messages shed light on the Kingdom’s efforts in strengthening environmental protection and safeguarding historical and cultural heritage through policies that reinforce national identity, preserve natural resources, and build on advanced infrastructure and sustainable development practices.
The Main Messages highlighted the importance of economic growth and diversification, emphasizing that the Kingdom’s economic transformation and diversification efforts have been a key driver of greater resilience. With the non-oil sector now contributing more than 86% of GDP in 2025, this reflects a significant shift toward a more sustainable economic model.
The submission of the Kingdom’s Main Messages comes as a first step towards presenting its Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) during the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), to be held in July 2026 at the UN Headquarters in New York.
