Manama : Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, issued Edict (4) of 2026, amending certain provisions of Edict (15) of 2017 on the establishment and formation of the National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance (NCGIG) and its operating mechanism, following the approval of the Cabinet.
Article (I)
Articles One and Five (first paragraph) of Edict (15) of 2017 on the establishment and formation of the National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance (NCGIG) and its operating mechanism are hereby replaced with the following:
Article One:
A committee named the National Committee for Spatial and Geographic Information Governance is established and referred to in this decision as the “Committee”. The Committee shall be affiliated with the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure and shall be chaired by the head of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB). The Committee shall consist of representatives of the following bodies:
1. Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA)
2. Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB)
3. Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning
4. Ministry of Works
5. Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture
6. Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications
7. The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE)
8. Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA)
9. Electricity and Water Authority (EWA)
10. Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA)
11. Bahrain Space Agency (BSA)
A decision shall be issued by the Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure to appoint the Committee’s members, based on nominations from the relevant authorities, provided that representation is at least at the Assistant Undersecretary level. An exception may be approved to allow lower-level representation.
The Committee shall elect a Vice-Chairperson from among its members at its first meeting to assume the responsibilities of the Chairperson in his absence.
Article Five (first paragraph):
The Committee shall hold its meetings upon invitation by its Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson once every month or whenever necessary, at the time and place determined by them. A meeting of the Committee shall be valid with the attendance of the majority of its members, provided that the Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson is present.
Article (II)
A new article numbered (One Repeated) shall be added to Edict (15) of 2017 on the establishment and formation of the National Committee for Spatial and Geographic Information Governance and its operating mechanism, to read as follows:
By a decision of the Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure, the National Committee for Spatial and Geographic Information Governance may be reconstituted and its members renamed upon the expiry of their term.
Article (III)
The concerned authorities, each within their capacities, shall implement the provisions of this edict and shall take effect the date following of its issuance and be published in the Official Gazette.
