Manama : As part of the 2024 Bahrain Film Festival’s initiatives to support youth in filmmaking, a press conference was held this evening, attended by Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, the Minister of Information, alongside Egyptian actress Mona Zaki, May Abdel Azim- Egyptian entrepreneur; and Sarah Al Badri, President of the Bahrain Cinema Club.
An initiative to empower female filmmakers in Bahrain was launched in collaboration with HerStory Films, aligning with this year’s festival theme, “Celebrating Women in Film,” and the designation of Manama as the 2024 Arab Capital of Media.
The minister highlighted that this collaboration reflects Bahrain’s commitment to supporting young talent in cinema by creating an environment conducive to growth and creativity. He expressed his hope that the initiative would open new horizons for Bahraini female filmmakers, enabling them to bring their ideas to life and create successful stories.
Zaki expressed her pleasure at seeing this initiative launched in Bahrain, following its success in Egypt. She praised Bahrain’s cinematic talent and the support provided for its development, highlighting HerStory’s unique role as a platform that promotes and supports female creativity in cinema.
HerStory co-founder Abdel Azim thanked Bahrain for its warm hospitality and the exceptional organisation of the film festival, which reflects the Kingdom’s dedication to the film industry. She explained that the initiative includes specialised workshops to equip female filmmakers with the skills to share their stories globally.
Al Badri expressed her appreciation to the minister for his support of all festival initiatives, particularly his encouragement for this promising initiative.
