Cairo : Fourteen people were killed and six others injured in a major collision between a heavy transport truck and a microbus on the regional road in Ashmoun, Menoufia governorate, northern Egypt. Both vehicles were completely destroyed. The victims were transferred to Ashmoun General Hospital, which raised its emergency readiness to receive the injured.
A hospital source confirmed the reception of 14 bodies, with some transferred to El Bagour Hospital, along with six injured individuals suffering from varying degrees of trauma. Medical teams continue to provide intensive care for the injured.
Preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by excessive speed leading to a direct collision. The Public Prosecution has launched an inquiry, assigning forensic experts to examine the bodies and interviewing witnesses and survivors to determine the full circumstances.
Menoufia witnessed a similar incident last April, when five members of a single family died and one person was injured in a two car collision on the same regional road.
