Ten restaurants were closed for violating directives to restrict their activities to delivering food and take away orders, it has emerged. Details of the closure were announced last night by the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry which stated that the restaurants flouted measures imposed by Bahrain to limit the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).
According to the ministry’s resources and services assistant under-secretary Abdulaziz Al Ashraf, an inspection campaign was launched by the ministry to ensure commercial establishments adhered to the directives, which include limiting restaurant activities to deliveries and take away orders, dedicating the first opening hour in supermarkets for the elderly and pregnant women, as well as ensuring the closure of gym, among other directives.
“The inspection resulted in the closure of 10 restaurants that were serving food inside their premises,” he said. “Four of these restaurants were located in Muharraq and the rest spread across in Manama, Jid Ali, Saar, Sanad, Nuwaidrat and Riffa. “The campaign also extended to include gyms and other establishments and no violations were recorded.” He added that inspection campaigns will continue and urged CR holders to adhere to the directives. He also called on people to report violations in order to allow authorities to take action against them.
